Medium worsted-weight yarn in brown
Small amount of medium worsted-weight yarn in white
F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook
Polyester fiberfill stuffing
Yarn needle
Scissors
Stitch marker
Optional keychain ring or ornament cord

Crochet Abbreviations

This pattern uses US crochet terminology.

MR: Magic ring
Sc: Single crochet
Inc: Increase—work 2 single crochet stitches in the same stitch
Dec: Decrease—single crochet 2 stitches together

Sts: Stitches
R: Round
Sl st: Slip stitch

Pattern Notes

Work continuously in spiral rounds without joining unless otherwise stated.
Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round.
The number in parentheses shows the total number of stitches at the end of the round.
To change colors, begin the final stitch with the current color. Before completing the stitch, pull the new color through the remaining two loops.
Stuff the football firmly, but do not overstuff it.

Thread a yarn needle with white yarn. Embroider one long straight line across the center of the football. Add four or five evenly spaced short stitches across the long line to create the football laces. Secure the yarn inside the football and trim the excess. Gently roll and shape the finished football between your hands to create an even oval shape with slightly pointed ends. Attach a keychain ring to make a football keychain, or add a loop of cord to turn it into a Christmas ornament.
