Newborn baby head circumference: 13″ – 14″, Hat height = 5.5 to 6″= J hook,

Instructions: Blue and Yellow yarn, J hook
ch 5- slip stitch to form a ring,

rnd 1. ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join with sl st. on top of ch 3. -12 sts.

rnd 2. ch 3, dc in same st. as joining, 2dc in each st. Around. Join with sl st on top of chain 2. -24 sts.
rnd 3. ch 3 counts as the first stitch, *2dc in next st., dc in the next stitch, repeat from *around, join with sl st. -36 sts.
rnd 4. Sl St with Yellow yarn, ch 3, dc in each stitch around. Join with sl st. -36 sts.
rnds 5-8. Sl St with Blue yarn, *ch 3, dc in each stitch around. Join with sl st. *Repeat this round 4 times total.
rnd 9. Sl St with Yellow yarn, ch 3, dc in each stitch around. Join with sl st.
rnd 10. Sl St with Blue yarn, ch 3, dc in each stitch around. Join with sl st. Fasten off.
In the center of the hat, take Yellow yarn and your yarn needed and sew a 2-inch vertical line down the hat and sew 3, 1.5-inch horizontal lines across the vertical line to make it look like a football; see picture above.

4. Slip Stitch into the next 12 stitches, in the 12 stitch, ch 2, dc in the next 23
stitches, leave the remaining 11 stitches unworked. Turn
5. Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn
