As the fall season approaches, it’s the perfect time to add some cozy decor to your home. One charming way to embrace autumn is by creating adorable crochet pumpkins in different sizes. In this tutorial, we’ll focus on the crochet popcorn stitch stacking pumpkin, an easy pattern that results in delightful handmade pumpkins that can be displayed on your coffee table or front door. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crocheter, this project is a great way to bring the autumn spirit into your living space.

To start, you’ll need your favorite yarn choice—bulky weight yarn works beautifully for this project. The yarn weight and hook size will determine the overall appearance of your pumpkins. For the larger pumpkins, using a chunky yarn will give a cozy, substantial feel, while smaller pumpkins can be made with worsted weight yarn. Begin with a magic ring to form the center of the pumpkin, and then work in continuous rounds, utilizing basic crochet stitches like single crochet, half double crochet, and the popcorn stitch for texture.

I completed 13 rows of the Popcorn Stitch, finishing with two rows of single crochet. Next, I folded the rows in half and used my yarn and needle to sew up one side. After sewing one end, I stuffed the pumpkin. Then, using my yarn needle, I wove in and out along the open edge and pulled it closed (this is best demonstrated in the video). Finally, I secured the closure by sewing it shut to ensure everything stays in place.

As yewou crochet, make sure to pay attention to your stitch count and follow the pattern notes for shaping. For the cute pumpkin stem, you can easily create one using a cinnamon stick or a simple crochet stem with a long tail. Don’t forget to incorporate the side and bottom edges of the pumpkin, ensuring a smooth finish. As you stack your pumpkins, feel free to mix and match sizes—mini pumpkins alongside larger ones create an appealing display.

For those who prefer a visual guide, I’ve included a video tutorial on my blog. You can also check out my social media for additional tips and pattern support.
