This indulgent dessert combines the luxurious flavors of Middle Eastern ingredients with a classic chocolate and strawberry combination. With layers of crunchy kataifi, creamy pistachio butter, and rich melted chocolate, this treat will transport your taste buds to Dubai. Perfect for any special occasion, these cups are easy to make and full of flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup kataifi, shredded

  • 4 ounces butter, melted

  • 1 tablespoon tahini

  • ½ cup pistachio butter

  • Fresh strawberries, halved

  • ½ cup melted chocolate (dark, milk, or white, depending on your preference)

Required Kitchen Equipment

  • Small dessert cups or glass serving bowls

  • Small saucepan

  • Mixing bowl

  • Sharp knife

  • Spoon for layering

  • Whisk (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Kataifi Base

Shred the kataifi into small, even pieces for consistent layering. In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shredded kataifi to the melted butter and stir continuously. Cook for about 5–7 minutes until the kataifi turns golden brown and crispy. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

2. Combine with Tahini & Pistachio Butter

While the kataifi is still warm, stir in the tahini and pistachio butter. Make sure the kataifi mixture is well-coated, creating a nutty and flavorful base for the dessert. Let it cool a bit before using.

3. Prepare the Strawberries

Wash, hull, and slice the fresh strawberries in half. Set them aside for layering.

4. Assemble the Layers in Cups

Select small dessert cups or glass bowls for the layers.

  • First Layer: Spoon a generous amount of the pistachio-kataifi mixture into the bottom of each cup. Press it down lightly to form the base.

  • Second Layer: Place a few halved strawberries over the kataifi base.

  • Third Layer: Drizzle a generous amount of melted chocolate over the strawberries.

5. Repeat the Layers

Add another layer of the pistachio-kataifi mixture, followed by more strawberries, and finish with another drizzle of chocolate. Repeat until the cups are filled and you have beautifully visible layers.

6. Garnish & Serve

For a touch of elegance, sprinkle crushed pistachios or edible gold flakes on top. Allow the dessert to sit for about 10–15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together, then serve immediately.
