Repeat (3 dc, ch 2) two more times in same magic ring. sl st on top of the chain 3.
You’ll have 4 corners. (All best shown on the video)
Rnd 2: sl st into the next 2 dc, sl st into the chain 2 space,
In corner: to start (ch 2, 2 dc), ch 2, 3 dc)
Ch 1, then in next corner space: (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) ch 1,
Repeat around → join with sl st at top of ch 2. sl st into the next 2 dc, sl st into the chain 2 space

Rnds 3–7: to start (ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc)
In each side space: *ch1, 3 dc, ch 1
In each corner space: 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc. *Repeat around, end with ch 1,
Sl st on top of the ch 2 to join. sl st into the next 2 dc, sl st into the chain 2 space. I did 7 rounds total, when you take the two ends together and if this is big enough to fit around your head then stop, if not then do another round or go up or down on your hook size.
Place both granny squares together with the right sides facing out. Using single crochet (sc), join the squares by working into each stitch and chain space along sides. Make 2 sc in each corner to keep the edges flat. Leave the fourth side open for the hat opening. Then, single crochet around the edge of both open sides to give it a finished look. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

And there you have it—a charming crochet cat ear hat made from simple granny squares! This easy DIY project is a great way to showcase your crochet skills while adding a fun, whimsical accessory to your wardrobe. Whether you’re gifting it or keeping it for yourself, this hat is sure to turn heads and bring smiles. So grab your hooks, pick your favorite yarn, and start stitching your own cozy, playful cat ear beanie today!
