Hi, this is Amy with Crochet Jewel Channel. I’ll guide you through making a crochet baby blanket in this tutorial. The pattern is based on multiples of nine, allowing flexibility in size. For instance, you can use a chain count of nine times twelve, add seven to that multiple, and then include an additional three for the turning chain. In my demonstration, I created a baby blanket with a chain count of 151 plus three using a medium worsted yarn and an F hook. The pattern can be continued until the blanket reaches 52 inches. The detailed pattern is provided below. Let’s get started.
First, create a sample chain count, ensuring the chains are somewhat loose. Add three for the turning chain, and then work a double crochet in the third chain from the hook using an F hook. The first row consists of double crochet stitches across each chain until you reach the end.
If you want to change colors, slip the new color through and turn your work. Chain three, then work one double crochet in the next three stitches. The ends will have four double crochets, including the chain three, while the rest involves three double crochets, three skips, and three chain threes. Continue this pattern until the end.
Now, chain three, skip three stitches, and work a double crochet in the next three stitches. Repeat this pattern until the end, ensuring both ends have four double crochets. To change colors, pull through a new color and continue the pattern.
For the third color, chain one and single crochet, followed by chain three. Double yarn over and crochet in the three double crochets under the chain three. Repeat this pattern until the end, alternating between rows. When transitioning between colors, end with a single crochet without finishing, bring up the next color, and start the next row.
Repeat the pattern by chaining three, turning, and working three double crochets into the white three double crochets below the chain space. Alternate between the two rows until you achieve the desired width for your blanket.
To finish chain three, work three double crochets in the three double crochets, and repeat until the end. Finish the top border by working three half double crochets to match the double crochet. Repeat three double crochets and three half double crochets until the end.
At the end, finish with four double crochets. Weave in the ends on the sides and consider adding a single crochet for a polished finish. This completes the alternating pattern for the baby blanket. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Thank you for watching, and please subscribe to our channel.
