Hi, this is Amy with Cro­chet Jew­el Chan­nel. I’ll guide you through mak­ing a cro­chet baby blan­ket in this tuto­r­i­al. The pat­tern is based on mul­ti­ples of nine, allow­ing flex­i­bil­i­ty in size. For instance, you can use a chain count of nine times twelve, add sev­en to that mul­ti­ple, and then include an addi­tion­al three for the turn­ing chain. In my demon­stra­tion, I cre­at­ed a baby blan­ket with a chain count of 151 plus three using a medi­um worsted yarn and an F hook. The pat­tern can be con­tin­ued until the blan­ket reach­es 52 inch­es. The detailed pat­tern is pro­vid­ed below. Let’s get start­ed.

First, cre­ate a sam­ple chain count, ensur­ing the chains are some­what loose. Add three for the turn­ing chain, and then work a dou­ble cro­chet in the third chain from the hook using an F hook. The first row con­sists of dou­ble cro­chet stitch­es across each chain until you reach the end.

If you want to change col­ors, slip the new col­or through and turn your work. Chain three, then work one dou­ble cro­chet in the next three stitch­es. The ends will have four dou­ble cro­chets, includ­ing the chain three, while the rest involves three dou­ble cro­chets, three skips, and three chain threes. Con­tin­ue this pat­tern until the end.

Now, chain three, skip three stitch­es, and work a dou­ble cro­chet in the next three stitch­es. Repeat this pat­tern until the end, ensur­ing both ends have four dou­ble cro­chets. To change col­ors, pull through a new col­or and con­tin­ue the pat­tern.

For the third col­or, chain one and sin­gle cro­chet, fol­lowed by chain three. Dou­ble yarn over and cro­chet in the three dou­ble cro­chets under the chain three. Repeat this pat­tern until the end, alter­nat­ing between rows. When tran­si­tion­ing between col­ors, end with a sin­gle cro­chet with­out fin­ish­ing, bring up the next col­or, and start the next row.

Repeat the pat­tern by chain­ing three, turn­ing, and work­ing three dou­ble cro­chets into the white three dou­ble cro­chets below the chain space. Alter­nate between the two rows until you achieve the desired width for your blan­ket.

To fin­ish chain three, work three dou­ble cro­chets in the three dou­ble cro­chets, and repeat until the end. Fin­ish the top bor­der by work­ing three half dou­ble cro­chets to match the dou­ble cro­chet. Repeat three dou­ble cro­chets and three half dou­ble cro­chets until the end.

At the end, fin­ish with four dou­ble cro­chets. Weave in the ends on the sides and con­sid­er adding a sin­gle cro­chet for a pol­ished fin­ish.
