For this project, I’ve worked with mul­ti­ples of 10 plus 1, adding 4 more chains to the base. The start­ing length of the blan­ket mea­sures 42 inch­es. To demon­strate, I’ll cre­ate a sam­ple with 31 chains plus 4, result­ing in 35 chains. I used medi­um worsted impec­ca­ble yarn and an F hook. Let’s get start­ed!

Begin by mak­ing a slip knot and then cre­at­ing loose chains. Ensure your chains aren’t too tight. For the sam­ple, I’ve made 35 chains, a mul­ti­ple of 10 plus 1, and an addi­tion­al 4.

Now, yarn over and iden­ti­fy the fifth chain from your hook. In that fifth chain, we’ll work two dou­ble cro­chet stitch­es. To do this, yarn over, pull through two loops, and then yarn over and pull through two more loops. Con­tin­ue this to com­plete the first dou­ble cro­chet. Next, make anoth­er dou­ble cro­chet in the same stitch. This par­tic­u­lar stitch cre­ates a beau­ti­ful wave-like pat­tern in the baby blan­ket.

After the dou­ble cro­chets, skip two stitch­es and work a sin­gle cro­chet in the next five stitch­es. Yarn over, pull through two loops, and com­plete the sin­gle cro­chet in the next four stitch­es.

Skip two stitch­es again and then work five dou­ble cro­chet in the next stitch. Repeat this pat­tern until you reach the end of the row.

Once you’ve com­plet­ed the five dou­ble cro­chet stitch­es, skip two more stitch­es and work a sin­gle cro­chet in the next five stitch­es. Con­tin­ue this pat­tern to the end.

At the end, skip two stitch­es and work three dou­ble cro­chet stitch­es in the last stitch.

Chain one and turn your work. Work a sin­gle cro­chet in this row in each back loop until you reach the end. Ensure you main­tain the same num­ber of stitch­es you’ve been work­ing with.

Now, chain one and turn your work again. This time, work a sin­gle cro­chet in the next three back loops. After that, skip two stitch­es and work five dou­ble cro­chet in the fol­low­ing stitch. Con­tin­ue this pat­tern until you reach the end.

Repeat the sequence of work­ing five sin­gle cro­chets, skip­ping two stitch­es, and hav­ing five dou­ble cro­chet stitch­es in a sin­gle stitch until you reach the end of the row. This pat­tern will cre­ate a beau­ti­ful wave-like design in your baby blan­ket.

At the end of this row, skip two stitch­es and work a sin­gle cro­chet in the next three stitch­es to com­plete the row.
