The heart stitch is the heart of this project. It adds a touch of love and charm to your crochet hat. This unique stitch pattern is created with single crochets, slip stitches, and creativity. We’ll show you how to work the heart stitch to make your hat stand out.
Worsted-weight yarn is an excellent choice for your heart-shaped hat. It’s versatile and readily available in various colors, allowing you to create a hat that matches your style. Remember that you can also play with different yarn weights to explore hat heights and warmth variations.
I made this Heart Stitch Hat for my 4‑year-old daughter with a circumference of 20 inches around her head. Since I started with the brim, I created this hat with a Hook, similar to the messy bun hat. I created a video if you need more assistance. If you want to make an Adult size, I would chain 10 for the brim and use an I hook. Take the brim around your head, and when it fits around your ears and meets together, then stop and follow the pattern as close as you can, but change the hook size to an I hook and make your brim a bit thicker with a chain 10. You may need to add a round of DC if you need an oversized hat than this child hat. If you want to make it smaller for a toddler, use a G hook and follow as closely as possible. I will show you how to crochet a heart stitch hat with step-by-step instructions in this video. This is a great beginner crochet pattern that is sure to keep you warm all winter!

Make your heart-stitch hat even more special by adding embellishments like a faux fur pom pom or a yarn pom pom. These decorative details can turn your crochet project into a great gift or a stylish accessory to wear during the cold weather. Plus, experimenting with different colors can give your hat a unique touch.
For visual learners, a video tutorial can be a valuable resource. It provides a step-by-step guide to the process, making it easy to follow. Take your Pom Pom and place it on top of your Hat. Leave one long strand of yarn and sew the Pom on top of the Hat. Weave in the ends and Fasten off.
Crocheting a heart-shaped hat is a fun and easy project and a heartfelt expression of creativity and love. You can create a crochet hat perfect for winter with suitable materials, a clear understanding of the heart stitch, and a dash of personalization.
As you complete your project, you’ll have a beautiful hat to keep you warm and the satisfaction of mastering a new crochet technique. So, pick your favorite yarns, grab your hook, and start crocheting your way to the perfect fit. Happy crocheting!
