These crochet mug rugs make nice gifts. I used a h hook and medium worsted yarn. It measures 4 x 6 inches.
Row 1: with white yarn, ch 18, sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, sc in each stitch across, Turn (this will be the width, the short ends, the fringe will go on both sides at the end.
Row 2: with brown yarn, ch 1, hdc, sl st in the next stitch, *hdc in the next stitch, sl st in the next stitch, *Repeat across, Turn
Row 3: ch 1, sl st with white yarn, sc in each stitch across, Turn
Alternate between Rows 2 and 3. Total of 21 Rows for the length.
Add fringe on both short ends. Take about 3 strands of yarn about 6 inches and loop it in the stitch, yarn over and pull your strands loop like a slip knot, and skip a stitch, and *Repeat. I did about 8 fringe strands on both sides.
