ch 2, work 5 sc in the sec­ond chain from the hook, sl st ‑5 sc

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each stitch around, sl st ‑10 sc

Rnd 3: in the front loop only, sc in each stitch around, sl st

Rnds 4–12: *sc in each stitch around, (work in con­tin­u­al rounds) *Repeat for 12 rounds total 

con­tin­ue on, chain 40, leave the chains until you fin­ish the mush­room top. Direc­tions are down below on how to attach the chains. 

Top of the mush­room F hook, Red yarn

Rnd 1: F hook, ch 2, work 5 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sl st ‑5 sc

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each stitch around, sl st ‑10 sc

Rnd 3: *sc, 2 sc in the next stitch, *Repeat around ‑15 sc

Rnd 4: *sc in each stitch around *Repeat around ‑15 sc

Rnd 5: *sc next 2 stitch­es, 2 sc in the next stitch *Repeat around ‑20 sc

Rnd 6: *sc in each stitch around *Repeat around ‑20 sc

Rnd 7: *sc in next 3 stitch­es, 2 sc in the next stitch, *Repeat around ‑25 sc

Rnd 8: *sc in each stitch around *Repeat around ‑25 sc

Rnd 9: *sc in next 4 stitch­es, 2 sc in the next stitch, *Repeat around ‑30 sc

Rnd 10: *sc in each stitch around *Repeat around ‑35 sc, Fas­ten off. Weave in your ends. 

Dots to go on top of the mush­room, f hook, white yarn

Rnd 1: F hook, ch 2, work 5 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sl st ‑5 sc, sew the dots on top of the red mush­room top as shown on the pho­to, scat­tered around. 

Take your chain of 40 and thread it onto your yarn nee­dle. Insert the nee­dle through the top cen­ter of the mush­room, bring­ing it down through the oth­er side of the top cen­ter. Then, sew the chain to the oppo­site side of the top of the chap stick hold­er to secure it in place. Then you can pull the chain loop back and forth to open and close the mush­room top.
