• sl knot – Slip Knot

• ch – Chain

• sl st – Slip Stitch

• dc – Dou­ble Cro­chet

• tr – Tre­ble (or Triple) Cro­chet

• rep – Repeat (used in pat­tern instruc­tions)

G hook, Cotton Yarn

Make a slip knot, then chain 6. Join the last chain to the first with a slip stitch to form a ring.

Chain 40. Make sure the 40 chains are not twist­ed. Slip stitch into each chain across the 40 to cre­ate a soft cord effect. Bring the cord around and join the end to the start­ing point with a slip stitch, form­ing a soft ring.

Base Round

Chain 2 (does not count as a stitch).

Into the ring (formed by the cord), cro­chet 40 dou­ble cro­chets (dc), work­ing tight­ly to fit all stitch­es.

Join with a slip stitch to the first real dc.

Texture Rounds (3 Rounds Total)

*Chain 3 (counts as first triple cro­chet — tr). In the same stitch, make 2 more triple cro­chets (tr). In each stitch from the pre­vi­ous round, work 3 triple cro­chets (tr).Com­plete the round and join with a slip stitch.

*Repeat for 2 more rounds (total of 3 rounds of triple cro­chet clus­ters).

After the third round, join with a slip stitch.

Fas­ten off and weave in the yarn tail using a yarn nee­dle (hide it under the stitch­es).

Puff and shape the sponge with your hands.
