I’m going to show you how to make these candy canes. I made them with size 10 thread yarn, but you can use any. I recommend using some thread yarn because it’s easier to stiffen them. I also used a 3.25-inch hook, but you can use a bigger or smaller hook depending on how big you would like these candy canes. I will show you how to stiffen them with water and glue. Okay, so let’s get started.

To get started, I will chain 50 with a size 3.25 hook. I’m chaining 50; however, you can chain more or less depending on how big you would like your candy cane. Once you have your desired number of chains, stop. The candy cane should measure about five inches when finished. Double crochet in a third chain from the hook, then double crochet across each chain until you reach the end.

Once you reach the end, chain one and pull through. Make sure you cut that yarn and can weave in your ends with your yarn needle. You’re going to make two of these, one white and one red, and make them the same way.

Now, you’re going to create the glue mixture. The mixture for the glue is 40% glue and 60% water. Once you have the mixture, take your strands of double-crocheted strips and remove the excess adhesive with your fingers. Then, intertwine the two of them together by twisting them to create your candy cane. Twist it until it’s turned to the bottom. You don’t want too much of the solution on the yarn, but you want enough for it to harden. It takes about half a day for it to set.

Form the two strips of yarn together to create the candy cane shape, and place it on parchment paper to prevent sticking. Let it harden, and your candy cane will be complete once it’s finished. You can add a hook or loop to hang it on your Christmas tree. You can make them in different colors. That’s how you make the candy cane. Thank you for watching, and please subscribe.
