I created these fun crochet baby blocks with medium worsted yarn and you can make them with cotton yarn. I used a F hook. The squares measure 3 inches by 3 inches.
Abbreviations:
ch=chain
sl st=slip stitch
dc=double crochet
tr=treble crochet
Rnd 1: Cotton yarn, F hook. Make 6, you can make centers in different colors. I did two of three different colors of yarn.
In the Magic Circle, Ch 3, work 2 dc, tr,
*work 3 dc, tr, *Repeat twice, sl st in top of the ch 3.
Rnd 2: Sl st with a new color of yarn, Ch 3, *work dc in each dc, work (2 dc, tr, 2 dc in the previous tr to create a corner), *Repeat, around, sl st on top of the ch 3.
Rnd 3: Sl st with a new color of yarn, Ch 3, *work dc in each dc, work (2 dc, tr, 2 dc in the previous tr to create a corner), *Repeat, around, sl st on top of the ch 3.
Make 6, Connect the square edges with a whip stitch to create a block.
