Abbre­vi­a­tions: dc=double cro­chet
sc=single cro­chet
sl st=slip stitch
ch=chain
croc­o­dile scale= 5dc around the dc from top to bot­tom, ch 2, 5dc around the 2nd dc from bot­tom to top.
  
Sup­plies:
H hook
Red Heart Mulit-col­ored Yarn,  1 1/2 Skeins
but­ton (I bought the bar­rel but­ton at Wal­mart)
Row 1: Chain 27, work two dc in the 6th chain from the hook, chain 1, skip two chains, work a dc, *chain 1, skip two chains, work 2 dc, chain 1, skip two chains, work a dc, *Repeat until the end, at the end, dc in the last chain, (13 dc)
Row 2: Turn, Ch 1, skip the first dc, go back around the post of the first dc of the two dc, *work 5 dc around that dc post from top to bot­tom, ch 2, work 5 dc of the next dc post from bot­tom to top, sl st in the next dc, *Repeat across,  sl st in the in the 2nd chain of the last dc, (4 croc­o­dile scales made)
Row 3: Turn, Chain 3, dc in the same stitch, ch 1, *work a dc in the cen­ter of the croc­o­dile stitch, ch 1, work 2 dc in the sl st, *Repeat across, (14 dc)
Row 4:  Turn, Ch 1, *work 5 dc in the first dc from top to bot­tom, ch 2, work 5 dc in the 2nd dc from bot­tom to top, sl st in the next dc, *Repeat across, (5 croc­o­dile scales made)
Row 5: Turn, Ch 1, sl st in the cen­ter of the croc­o­dile stitch, ch 4, *work 2 dc in the sl st, ch 1, work dc in the cen­ter of the croc­o­dile stitch, ch 1, *Repeat across, (13 dc)
Row 6: *Repeat row 2
Row 7: *Repeat row 3
Row 8: *Repeat row 4
Row 9: *Repeat row 5
Now for each 4 rows, repeat rows 2–5 until your desired length.
 
I worked this pat­tern up 40 Rows; If you want big­ger scales, use a big­ger scale.

I sewed a but­ton on the bot­tom part and fas­tened it to secure the neck warmer.
