Adult Mit­ten Pat­tern

I want­ed to make some Cro­chet Mit­tens for myself. I already have a cream scarf and head­band for the win­ter, so I want­ed to add some Cream-col­ored mit­tens to go with them. I mea­sured my wrist, and they were about 6.5–6.75 inch­es around. These mit­tens fit nice­ly around my wrist; you can always make your cuff big­ger by adding more rows, or more minor, too, by mak­ing few­er rows for the cuff.

Make 2 Mit­tens, H hook

Row 1: CUFF: chain 9, work sc in each ch across, turn ‑8 sc (these num­bers at the end may vary for you, but its an esti­mate)

Rows 2–28: sc in each back loop across, turn *Repeat to 28 rounds, ‑8sc

Rnd 29: fold the rows of 28 in half and sc across the edges to close it to make a cuff

Rnd 30: sc in each sc around, sl st ‑28sc

Rnd 31: hdc in each sc around, work in con­tin­u­al rounds now, with­out a slip stitch, use a mark­er to keep track of your rounds.

Rnd 32: hdc in the next hdc, 2hdc in the next, *Repeat around, ‑42 hdc

Rnds 33–37: hdc in each hdc around, *Repeat for 5 rounds, ‑42 hdc

Rnd 38: THUMB: hdc in the next 6 hdc, ch 2, Skip the next 9 hdc, hdc in each hdc around, ‑32 hdc

Rnd 39: hdc in each hdc around, 2hdc in the ch 2 space, hdc in each hdc around, ‑34 hdc

Rnd 40: *hdc in next 4 hdc, 2hdctog decrease, *Repeat around, ‑29 hdc

Rnds 41–43: hdc in each hdc around, *Repeat three times around, ‑29 hdc

Rnd 44: hdc in next 3 hdc, 2hdctog decrease, *Repeat around, ‑24 hdc

Rnds 45–49: hdc in next hdc around, *Repeat 5 times

Rnd 50: 2hdctog decrease, Work this Decrease around 13 times, so (2hdctog) 13 times, ‑13 hdc

Rnd 51: sl st in next 5 hdc across to close the top of the mit­ten, Fas­ten off, and Weave in the ends

THUMB: sl st into the open­ing of the thumb,

Rnds 1–2: sc in each hdc around twice. work in con­tin­u­al rounds with­out a slip stitch

Rnd 3: sc2tog, sc in next sc, *Repeat around

Rnds 4–8: sc in each sc around, *Repeat 5 times

Rnd 9: 2sctog around until the thumb close, sl st, Fas­ten off and Weave in the ends.

I made these cute mit­tens for my 15-month-old daugh­ter to keep her hands cozy dur­ing win­ter.

I mea­sured my 15-month-old wrists, they were about 4.25 inch­es around. You can take the cuff before you sew it togeth­er and see if will fit, but you want it a lit­tle loose so you can fit it over the child’s wrist.
Make 2 Mit­tens, H hook

Row 1: CUFF: chain 5, sc in the 2nd chain from the hook and each sc across, turn ‑4 sc

Rows 2–20: sc in each back loop across, turn *Repeat for 20 rounds, ‑4sc (should mea­sure around 5 inch­es long, before you sew it togeth­er)

Rnd 21: fold the rows of 20 in half and sc across the edges to close it to make a cuff

Rnd 22: sc in each sc around, sl st ‑20sc

Rnd 23: hdc in each sc around, work in con­tin­u­al rounds now, with­out a slip stitch, and use a mark­er to keep track of your rounds.

Rnd 24: hdc in each sc around

Rnd 25:  hdc in the next hdc, 2hdc in the next hdc, *Repeat around

Rnd 26: THUMB: hdc in the next 6 hdc, ch 2, Skip the next 7 hdc, hdc th next hdc, and in each hdc around

Rnd 27: hdc in the next three hdc, 2hdctog decrease, 2hdc in the ch 2 space, hdc in the next hdc, *2hdctog decrease, hdc the next three hdc, *Repeat around

Rnd 28: hdc in each sc around

Rnd 29:  hdc in each sc around

Rnd 30: *hdc in next 2 hdc, 2hdctog decrease, *Repeat around

Rnd 31: hdc in each sc around

Rnd 32: 2hdctog decrease, work this decrease 9 times, Close the top of the mit­ten with a few slip stitch­es, Fas­ten off and weave in the ends.
