Easy Crochet Candy Corn

The pattern is worked in continuous rounds using single crochet stitches, making it a fairly simple amigurumi project. The original project uses approximately 3 mm mercerized cotton yarn and a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

Materials

• Yellow cotton yarn
• Orange cotton yarn
• White cotton yarn
• 2.5 mm crochet hook
• 6 mm safety eyes
• Pink yarn or embroidery thread for cheeks
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Stitch marker
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Abbreviations – US Crochet Terms

• ch – chain
• sc – single crochet
• inc – increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
• 3-sc inc – 3 sc in the same stitch
• dec – decrease
• st(s) – stitch(es)

Note: This crochet candy corn is worked in a continuous spiral. Do not join at the end of each round. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the beginning of each round.

Yellow Section

Using yellow yarn, make a slip knot.

Foundation: Ch 6. with 2.5 mm crochet hook

Round 1 Foundation: Ch 6. with 2.5 mm crochet hook, to make it bigger go up on your hook size. 

Starting in the second ch from the hook:

Sc in the next 4 ch, work 3 sc in the last ch.

Continue working along the opposite side of the foundation chain. Sc in the next 4 ch, then work 3 sc in the final ch. (14 sts)

Round 2

Sc in next 4 sts, inc in each of the next 3 sts.

Repeat from * to * one more time. (20 sts)

Rounds 3–6

Sc in each st around. (20 sts)

On the final sc of Round 6, change to orange yarn.

Orange Section

Rounds 7–8

Sc in each st around. (20 sts)

Add the Eyes

Before continuing, insert the 6 mm safety eyes. The original tutorial places approximately 6 stitches between the eyes, although you can adjust their placement to get the expression you like.

Round 9

Sc in next 3 sts, dec.

Repeat around 4 times. (16 sts)

Round 10

Sc in each st around. (16 sts)

On the final sc, change to white yarn.

White Section

Round 11

Sc in each st around. (16 sts)

Round 12

Sc in next 2 sts, dec.

Repeat around 4 times. (12 sts)

Round 13

Sc in each st around. (12 sts)

Begin stuffing the crochet candy corn with fiberfill. Add enough stuffing to give it a nice shape without overstuffing.

Round 14

Sc in next st, dec.

Repeat around 4 times. (8 sts)

Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail.

Add a little more stuffing if needed. Thread the yarn tail through a yarn needle and weave it through the remaining stitches. Pull tightly to close the opening, secure the yarn, and weave in the end.

Add the Cute Cheeks

Using pink yarn or embroidery thread, add a small stitch underneath each safety eye to create rosy cheeks. The original tutorial recommends pink, light blue, or another soft color for this little detail.
