To get start­ed, you’ll need the fol­low­ing mate­ri­als:

Cro­chet hook (appro­pri­ate size for your yarn)
Yarn (cot­ton, acrylic, worsted weight, or DK weight, depend­ing on the desired size)
 Stitch mark­ers
Tapes­try nee­dle
Basic stitch­es: slip stitch (sl st), sin­gle cro­chet, dou­ble cro­chet (dc)
Hook size suit­able for the cho­sen yarn weight
Dif­fer­ent col­ors of yarn (for vari­ety)

ch 5- slip stitch to form a ring,
rnd 1. ch 3 (Counts as first Dc), 11 dc in ring, join with sl st. on top of ch 3. ‑12 sts.
rnd 2. ch 2, (Counts as first Dc), dc in same st. as join­ing, 2dc in each st. around. join with sl st on top of chain 2. ‑24 sts.
rnd 3. ch 2, (Counts as first Dc), *2dc in next st., dc in the next stitch, repeat from *around, join with sl st. ‑36 sts.
rnd 4. ch 2, (Counts as first Dc), dc in the next st., 2dc in the next st., *dc in the next two stitch­es, 2dc in the next stitch, repeat from *around, join with sl st. ‑48 sts.
rnd 5. ch 3 (counts as dc), *skip one dc, work 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in the next dc, skip one dc, dc in the next dc, *Repeat with a total of 9 shells(2dc, ch1, 2dc), and 10 dc’s, and Then Dc in the next 11 dc. sl st in the beg chain 3.
rows 6–11. ch 3 (counts as dc),  work 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in the pre­vi­ous ch 1 space, *dc in the next dc, work 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in the next ch 1 space, *Repeat across with a total of 9 shells(2dc, ch1, 2dc), and 10 dc’s, Turn *Repeat this  for a total of 6 rows.
row 12. sc in the pre­vi­ous ch 3, *work 6 dc in the pre­vi­ous ch 1 space, sc in the next dc, *Repeat across, at the end work a sc in the last dc, and then chain 40 for one of the ties. Tie off on the chain 40. Fas­ten off.
Last tie. on the oppo­site side on the oth­er side of row 12, sl st with your yarn, and chain 40, tie off.
