How to Crochet the Best and Easy Soft Bath Loofah
Crochet Bath Loofah
Looking to add a handmade touch to your self-care routine? A crochet bath loofah, also called a bath pouf or sponge, is not only soft and reusable but also a great way to reduce plastic waste in your bathroom. These loofahs make perfect DIY gifts, are beginner-friendly, and give you the satisfaction of creating something functional and eco-conscious. Whether you’re an experienced crocheter or just picking up a hook, this is one project that combines comfort, creativity, and care for the environment.
Unlike store-bought plastic poufs, crocheted loofahs are gentler on the skin and can be made with natural cotton yarn to promote sustainability. Cotton yarn is ideal because it absorbs water well, dries relatively quickly, and is machine washable—making your loofah easy to clean and reuse. Plus, you can customize the color, size, and texture to your liking.
Crafting your own bath sponge is also a great way to use up leftover yarn scraps and practice basic crochet stitches like chains and double crochets. It’s a fast project too—perfect for last-minute gifts, spa sets, or a relaxing afternoon craft. Many crocheters find these little puffs to be satisfying because they work up quickly and offer instant utility. And once you’ve made one, chances are you’ll be hooked (pun intended!).
Crocheting your own bath loofah is a fun and rewarding project that supports a more sustainable lifestyle. It’s a small but meaningful swap you can make to reduce bathroom waste and add a touch of handmade comfort to your daily routine. Make a slip knot, then chain 6. Join the last chain to the first with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Chain 40. Make sure the 40 chains are not twisted. Slip stitch into each chain across the 40 to create a soft cord effect. Bring the cord around and join the end to the starting point with a slip stitch, forming a soft ring.

Chain 2 (does not count as a stitch).
Into the ring (formed by the cord), crochet 40 double crochets (dc), working tightly to fit all stitches.
Join with a slip stitch to the first real dc.

*Repeat for 2 more rounds (total of 3 rounds of triple crochet clusters).
After the third round, join with a slip stitch.
Fasten off and weave in the yarn tail using a yarn needle (hide it under the stitches).
