Abbreviations:
ch=chain
dc=double crochet
hdc=half double crochet
bpsc=back post single crochet
sl st=slip stitch
 
child 3-10 yrs, head cir., 19″-20 1/2 “”, hat length= 7.5″=H hook

Instructions:
H hook, green yarn
Two ways to start this Hat with a Magic Circle or Do Rnd 1:
Here is a Magic Circle with Double Crochet Video, then Continue on to Rnd 2: or Do Rnd 1: Instead of the Magic Circle:
rnd 1: ch 5- slip stitch to form a ring, ch 3 (counts as a Dc), 11 dc in the ring, join with sl st. on top of ch 3. -12 sts.
rnd 2. ch 2, (Counts as first Dc), dc in same st. as joining, 2dc in each st. around. join with sl st on top of chain 2. -24 sts.
rnd 3. ch 2, (Counts as first Dc), *2dc in next st., dc in the next stitch, repeat from *around, join with sl st. -36 sts.
rnd 4. ch 2, (Counts as first Dc), dc in the next st., 2dc in the next st., *dc in the next two stitches, 2dc in the next stitch, repeat from *around, join with sl st. -48 sts.
rnd 5. ch 2,(Counts as first Dc), dc in the 2 next two sts., 2dc in the next stitch; *dc in the next 3 stitches, 2dc in the next stitch.  repeat from * around, join (60 sts)

Rnd 6. *ch2, dc in each st around, *Repeat for 4 rounds, then the next round, add a Cream Strip, with a dc in each dc around for that round.

rnds 7- Continue with, *ch2, dc in each st around, join *Repeat to a length about 7 inches long or to your desired length. slip stitch.
 
Brim: count over about 19 stiches, sl st.
ch 1, skip dc, work 2hdc in 19 stitches across (38 hdc total)
skip 1 stitch, next stitch do a sl st., sl stitch again in the next stitch. turn
work 1 hdc between each hdc (38 hdc total) sl st in the next stitch, turn
work 1 hdc between each hdc(38 hdc total) sl st in the next stitch, cut the yarn and weave in the ends.
 
Flower:
H hook
Cream and Green yarn
rnd 1. ch 2, do 10 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook with cream yarn, sl st in the beg. st.
rnd 2. sc in the same stitch, *ch 3, skip the next st., sc in the next st., with green yarn, *repeat, until you have 5(3 chains) sl st in the last stitch.
rnd 3. *ch 1, do 6dc in the chain 3 space, ch 1, sl st in the previous sc with green yarn, *repeat until you have 5(6 pedals) sl st.
 
Next Flower:
H hook
cream yarn
rnd 4. *bpsc around round 2, ch 5, bpsc around the next sc, ch 5, *repeat until you have 5(5 chain spaces) sl st.
rnd 5. *ch 1, do 9 dc in the chain 5 space, ch 1, sl st in the previous sc, *repeat until you have 5(9dc pedals) sl st. Fasten off and Weave in the ends.

**Finishing Touches:**
8. Fasten off your work and leave a long tail. Thread your yarn needle with the tail and weave it through the last row to close the top of the hat.
