Supplies:

You can use medium worsted yarn, too. Use a different size hook for the various sizes listed above. For a more enormous hat, add another round of dc. If it’s a smaller size, then omit a dc round or two. Lengths are listed above with the hook size. Take a Measuring tape from the top of the hat (Round 1) and to the bottom to measure the length of the hat. The lengths are listed above the hook size needed for each size. Each round is about 1/2 inch long, depending on the size.
Abbreviations:
ch=chain
sl st=slip stitch
sc=single crochet
dc=double crochet
I made this for my 4 year old.
H hook, Caron Soft Yarn

rnd 1: Work 11 dc in a Magic Circle, sl st on top of the chain 3. ‑11 dc
rnd 2. ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), dc in same st. as joining, 2dc in each dc around. join with sl st on top of chain 3. ‑22 dc
rnd 3. ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), *2dc in next dc, dc in the next dc, Repeat from *around, join with sl st. ‑33 dc
rnd 4. ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), dc in the next dc, 2dc in the next dc, *dc in the next two dc, 2dc in the next dc, Repeat from *around, join with sl st. ‑44 dc
rnd 5. ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), dc in the 2 next two dc, 2dc in the next dc, *dc in the next 3 dc, 2dc in the next dc. Repeat from * around, join with sl st. ‑55 dc
rnds 6–11 *Ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), dc in each dc around, sl st to join. ‑55 dc *Repeat for 6 rounds
rnds 12–15. *Ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), dc in the next 20 dc, chain 12, skip 12 dc, dc in the remaining dc, sl st *Repeat for 4 rounds.
Now take about 20 inch length of yarn and sew into the center of round 15 with the skip 12 with the chain 12’s, and wrap around the center of the chain 12’s all together, wrap around about 4 times, and sew in and secure in the back.
