Abbreviations:
dc=double crochet
sc=single

Instructions: I made this for My Toddler with a G hook.
(for the color change, switch your yarn before you sl st on the top chain of each ending row.)
 

 

G hook, Black and yellow yarn for the stripes. Start with black yarn,
Two ways to start this Hat with a Magic Circle or Do Rnd 1:
rnd 1: Start with Black yarn; work 11 dc in a Magic Circle, sl st on top of the chain 3. -11 dc

Crochet a Magic Circle with Double Crochet Video:

rnd 2. Now Sl St with Yellow Yarn, ch 3, dc in same st. as joining, 2dc in each st. Around. Join with sl st on top of chain 2. -22 sts.
rnd 3. Sl St with Black yarn, ch 3 counts as the first stitch, *2dc in next st., dc in the next stitch, repeat from *around, join with sl st. -33 sts.
rnd 4. Sl St with Yellow Yarn, ch 3, dc in the next st., 2dc in the next st., *dc in the next two stitches, 2dc in the next stitch, repeat from *around, join with sl st. -44 sts.
rnd 5. Sl St with Black yarn, ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), dc in the 2 next two sts., 2dc in the next stitch; *dc in the next 3 stitches, 2dc in the next stitch. Repeat from * around, join -55 sts
rnds 6-14. Sl St with Yellow Yarn, *ch 3, dc in each st
 around, join sl st., *repeat. Continue until the hat reaches 7 inches, sl st. Fasten off. *Repeat back and forth with Yellow and Black yarn for the stripes. (if this is a smaller size, the length will be shorter; look above for sizes and what hook to use.)
Antennas: Make 2, Black yarn
Create a 5 sc in the Magic Circle, sl st
Rnds 2-9: sc in each sc around, work in continual rounds. Fasten off after 9 rounds.
