Square measures around 5 by 5 inches
Worsted weight yarn, 3 colors
Crochet hook: G hook
Yarn needle, Scissors
You’ll make 5 granny squares (1 top + 4 sides). G hook, 4mm
Rnd 1: I started with cream yarn or use your choice of yarn color, In the Magic ring, Ch 3 (counts as dc)
2 dc in ring, *ch 2, 3 dc, *Repeat 3 more times, end with ch 2, Sl st to top of ch 3
Rnd 2: light pink yarn, Sl st into space before the corner space, then color change by pulling your new yarn through, sl st into the chain 3 space, Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc (corner made), *ch 1, In next corner: 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, *Repeat around, end with chain 1, Sl st into chain 3 to join
Rnd 3: with dark purple yarn, Sl st into space before the corner space, then color change, sl st into the chain 3, Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc (corner made), ch 1, in the chain space, 3 dc, ch 1,Â
In next corner: *3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, in the chain space, 3 dc, ch 1, *Repeat around, end with chain 1, Sl st into chain 3 to join
Rnds 4-5: cream yarn yarn, Repeat same pattern again just like round 3, to enlarge square for two more rounds, in chain space add ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, then 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the corners, after round 4, go to round 5, color change to light pink,Â
Rnds 6: sl st into the chain space, with dark purple, 2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc, each stitch until the corner gets a sc and in the chain spaces, in the corner is repeat of 2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc, *Repeat around, sl st to join, Fasten off.Â
You should now have 5 equal squares.
PART 2: Joining the Hat
1 square = top
4 squares = sides
Join: with the last color of yarn you used. Use slip stitch or whip stitch
Join the sides, take each side and, slip stitch together to the center top square, to create the hat shape. Then sl st the sides together so the hat takes shape, Best shown in the video.Â
Now it looks like a cube top (no brim yet)
PART 3: Attach yarn at bottom edge, with cream yarn.
Rnd 1: Sc evenly around entire bottom edge, sl st
Rnds 2-3: ch 2, Dc in each stitch around, sl st, for two rounds
Rnd 4: ch 2, *2 dc in one stitch, 1 dc in next, Repeat around, sl st
Rnd 5: ch 2, Dc in each stitch around, sl st
Rnd 6: ch 2, 1 dc next two stitches, 2 dc, Repeat around, sl st
Fasten off, Weave in ends
